Set against deep green foliage, this medal winning variety of Crape Myrtle has bright magenta flowers that bloom from mid summer to early fall. It has a fine, mounding, multi-stem habit and is mildew resistant. The foliage turns attractive shades of orange-red-dark purple in fall. As a more upright shrub we recommend this plant for informal hedges, as a low screen, or as a specimen tree.
Attracts pollinators, drought, clay, and air pollution tolerant.
Full sun. Average, moist, well-draining soil. Zone 6-9. Protect from winter winds.
If soil is extremely poor/infertile - apply slow release fertilizer. Overly fertile soil will encourage lush foliage production as expense of flower production.
Apply mulch to maintain soil moisture and protect in winter.
Blooms on new wood- can be pruned in early spring as new foliage begins to emerge. Can be cut back to about 8" in early spring each year.
