'Holden's Solar Flare' produces large red/pink flower buds that bloom into very large yellow and red blotched flowers. The dark green evergreen foliage is an attractive feature all year long. Looks great when planted in mass, as a specimen, within boarders, as a hedge, or within woodland or shade gardens.
Full sun - part shade. Acidic, rich, humusy, consistently moist, well-draining soil. Zone 5-8.
Attracts pollinators.
Consider planting in raised bed if planting in heavy clay soil.
Apply mulch to protect shallow root system as well as maintain soil moisture and stabilize soil temperatures.
To lower pH add an acidifier such as sulfur of iron sulfate, to increase pH add limestone or lime to soil.
Remove spent blooms immediately after flowering.
