Got a low lying wet spot or soil so saturated that nothing seems to be able to survive? Consider Swamp Rose Mallow! With it's love of moist-wet soils, and its ability to handles periods of standing water, it's fantastic for zone 1 of rain gardens. Quickly emerging in late spring this fast grower flushes with bright green foliage followed by blooms ranging from shades of pink to white from mid summer-fall. With a tall upright habit it makes its a thrilling specimen, and its dense form allows it to be used as a summer screen or hedge. Swamp Rose Mallow also works well in containers. 

Full sun. Average, moist-wet, soil. Zone 5-9. 

Attracts pollinators, wet soil tolerant, deer resistant. 

Deadheading can maintain neat appearance but is not necessary for continued blooming.

Fertilize throughout growing season for best results.

Cut back stems to approximately 3-4 inches in late fall. 

Pruning tip: once new growth reaches about 18+ inches, cut the trunks back to about 1ft, this encourages bushier growth and more blooms.
