This large, native upright rhododendron features large trusses of light violet flowers and beautiful dense, deep green evergreen foliage that maintains its color through winter. Looks spectacular as a specimen, or when planted in mass, borders, woodland garden and margins and naturalized areas.
Part shade. Cool, rich, humusy, acidic, consistently moist, well-draining soil. Zone 4-8.
Attracts pollinators.
Consider planting in raised bed if planting in heavy clay soil.
Apply mulch to protect shallow root system as well as maintain soil moisture and stabilize soil temperatures.
To lower pH add an acidifier such as sulfur of iron sulfate, to increase pH add limestone or lime to soil.
Remove spent blooms immediately after flowering.
