Rhododendron Catawbiense Catawbiense Grandiflorum

With beautiful deep green evergreen foliage and lavender-pink blooms this native, rounded to spreading, multi-stemmed Rhododendron is sure to please year in a year out. Accent shrub for the woodland garden, shrub border or foundation planting.

Attracts pollinators including butterflies, rabbit resistant. 

Part shade. Acidic, rich, humusy, consistently moist, well-draining soil. Protect from strong winds. Zone 6-8.

Consider planting in raised bed if planting in heavy clay soil.

Apply mulch to protect shallow root system as well as maintain soil moisture and stabilize soil temperatures. 

To lower pH add an acidifier such as sulfur of iron sulfate, to increase pH add limestone or lime to soil. 

Remove spent blooms immediately after flowering.
