The beautiful color changing foliage of the 'Flame Thrower' Redbud is heart shaped and glossy. Leaves emerge burgundy in spring, then turning shades of orange, yellow, before maturing to green. Red flower buds bloom pink along the trunk and branches. The colorful display and size of 'Flame Thrower' makes this a great specimen, but can also be used in mass, borders, woodland margins, and even naturalized areas. Cut branches can be forced indoors.
Full sun - part shade. Average, consistently moist, well-draining soil. Zone 5-9.
Attracts pollinators including butterflies, birds, and hummingbirds. Clay soil and Black Walnut tolerant.
