Low spreading, rapid growing, deciduous shrub. Masses of white flowers bloom in summer with large red berries following in fall. In autumn comes, foliage turns bright red. Good choice for soil erosion control. Low growing and spreading nature lends ‘Tom Thumb’ to be a perfect ground cover. With its good soil erosion control, consider planting this shrub on slopes. Sprawling nature make Cotoneaster a good choice for planting near walls where arching branches can be accentuated.
Full sun-part shade. Average, moist-dry, well-draining soil. Zone 4-8.
Drought, rabbit, erosion, and air pollution tolerant.
Pruning: Remove death or damage anytime. Blooms on new wood - prune in early spring. Pruning may alter Cotoneasters naturally arching branches, prune minimally.
