Native woodland plant that forms a sizable colony from a rhizome that shoots many stems. Broad leaves emerge golden and with part day sun will remain gold all summer otherwise foliage will be pale green. Woodland plant that does best in rich moist soil but will tolerate drier shade. Zone 3 - 9. Good backdrop herbaceous plant to divide shady areas. Plant with early spring bulbs to fill in the space they occupied. Attracts birds, Deer Resistant.
