Cultivated from the native Buttonbush of the southeast, 'Sugar Shack offers multiple seasons of interest. In spring, fragrant, white, spiky flower heads blooms, attracts loads of pollinators. Come fall those flowers have become round red fall fruits that will persist through winter. Foliage emerges red, matures to glossy dark green, and finally turns brilliant shades of yellow, orange, and red in fall. With good erosion control and a high tolerance of boggy condition, consider planting ‘Sugar Shack’ on slopes or in low lying wet areas or rain gardens.

Full sun - part shade. Moist-wet, humusy, soil. Zone 4-10.

Attracts pollinators including bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Boggy soil tolerant.
