This new cultivar is loaded with large, nickel size, showy bright red tasty berries starting in late August until late winter. They can be made into tea, eaten raw, or mixed into fresh fruit salad. Evergreen. Prefers partial shade and acid well-drained but not dry soil. Will tolerate sun. Zones 3-8. Plant with other natives in a woodland garden setting. Tiarella, creeping phlox, trilliums, hepatica, arisaema etc. EDIBLE - Both leaves and fruit taste like wintergreen lifesavers. Chipmunks, grouse, mice and deer may eat at the leaves during winter.
