Statuesque native plant with tall, erect stems and long pointed leaves. Stems branch toward the end and bear clusters of fluffy, intense deep purple flower heads. Great late flowering butterfly plant. This plant can tolerate a wide range of soil but happiest in moist site. Typically found in moist meadows. Great plant for fall color along streams, ponds, meadows, and woods edge. Plant in butterfly gardens for late summer blooms or in the back of  the border.
