A unique series of attributes makes this Big leaf lacecap hydrangea an excellent option for that spot in your yard that gets hit with heavy winter winds. Because it blooms its pink to blue lacecaps on both old and new wood, and flowers are produced along the stems and not just the top, even if there is some winter die back, summer will still show a profusion of colorful blooms. Makes and excellent board, landscpae, or specimen plant as well as beuatiful cut flowers, both fresh and dried.
Attracts pollinators.
Full sun - part sun. Any moist, well-draining soil. If planted in higher sun, apply mulch to maintain soil moisture. Zone 5-10.
Pruning negatively impact flower production, however death or damage should be removed in spring.
Apply granular rose fertilizer in late spring to encourage new flower bud growth. Do not fertilize after late July, as nutrients interfere with dormancy cycle.
